Picture the foggy streets of London; the frenzied murder of a gentleman has horrified Victorian society. In this gothic horror novella, Robert Louis Stevenson has the reader spellbound by the gradual discovery made by Gabriel Utterson that his respected and intelligent friend, Dr Henry Jekyll, is in fact living a double life. The novel’s main theme is duality; the obvious contrasting personalities of the doctor, but also the social hypocrisy of Victorian life where outward respectability may hide inward lust. It is dark, there is a violent crime and there are secrets, what more can you ask of a great book?
Our candle inspiration very much leans towards the shadow side of the Jekyll and Hyde story and combines the deep spices of frankincense and akigalawood with hints of woody resin from labdanum and cyclamen; vanilla adds a contrasting sweetness.

Caring For Your Candle
The first time you light your candle, let it burn until the wax melts to the edge of the glass jar as this will prevent tunnelling. This could be anywhere between two to four hours. Caution: the glass jar may become hot to touch.
Pinch the cooled, burned end of the wooden wick or trim wick to 5mm before you re-light your candle.
Please wash and reuse your jar.

Our wax is a vegan wax, an eco blend of coconut and rapeseed and you'll notice that our wicks are wooden. We've been deliberate about our choices, opting for an easily renewable wax that burns cleanly, a sustainable wooden wick and oils that are free from phthalates.
