Our Eco Credentials
Our Wax
Why did we choose an eco vegetable (rapeseed and coconut) wax blend?
Well, it’s more sustainable than soy with zero deforestation involved in the manufacturing process - that’s very important to us and hopefully to you - it’s 100% plant-based and burns super cleanly, so no sooting.
This is a smooth wax, and we find it has a good cold and hot scent throw. Plus, it’s water-soluble, meaning with some hot, soapy water, the wax will dissolve, allowing you to easily re-use your amber glass jar.
Our Wicks
Even though many of the photographs on our website show our candles with wooden wicks, we have made the decision to transition from wood to eco cotton.
Sustainability is always part of the decisions we make but we were finding that the wooden wicks were extremely unacceptably inconsistent and product satisfaction is absolutely essential to us. Our new wicks are eco cotton/paper and are clean burning.
Our Packaging
We encourage you to reuse your candle’s amber glass jar by washing any excess wax away in hot, soapy water and removing the small metal sustainer which we use to hold our wicks in place.
The brown boxes can be put in with your normal cardboard recycling as well as the internal crinkly packing paper.
Our Fragrance Oils
We use a mix of essential oils and synthetic fragrances in our candles - all of them are very high quality. Using synthetic oils means we can make a more affordable product for our customers and, as many essential oils are endangered from over-harvesting, a more sensible alternative is feasible.
Our Heart
We couldn't make our candles if any part of the process involved harm to animals. Our candles are fully vegan - from wax, to wicks, to fragrance.
There is no deforestation involved which means the natural habitat of insects and wildlife is not disturbed during the making of our wick or wax.
